Jane Portas, partner, PwC
Jane Portas is a partner within PwC’s insurance business. She is a Chartered Accountant with over 27 years’ insurance industry, regulatory and consulting experience.
Jane advises UK and international insurers and intermediaries on UK, EU and global prudential and conduct regulation as well as wider business matters and change programmes. She has led engagements covering governance, risk management, solvency, recovery and resolution, client money, cross border/group compliance, as well as advising on M&A, market entry, corporate structuring, capital and distribution optimisation.
Jane has undertaken various regulator roles including developing UK insurance passporting and third country branch policy under EU directives, leading insurance authorisation, supervision and grandfathering policy for the FSA (now PRA/FCA) Handbook, and more recently advising on Solvency II equivalence.
In January 2017, Jane was called to give evidence to the Treasury Select Committee on Solvency II and the options for the UK regime post Brexit.
Alongside her role at PwC, Jane is a founder Committee Member of Insuring Women’s Futures established by the Chartered Insurance Institute to consider the women’s protection gap. She is a Vice President, and sits on the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, of the Insurance Institute of London, and is a Committee member of The Insurance Supper Club, a global women’s business network.
