This category is designed to recognise the UK brokerage setting the standard for others to follow in the commercial lines market.

This is for commercial lines brokers that can show a positive innovation for their SME/Mid-market customers and/or business partners. Innovations that have improved staff welfare and performance will also be considered. Judges will be looking for entries that can show positive improvements in financial performance such as brokerage, profit/earnings.

Customer Champion of the Year – Broker Sponsored by Close Brothers Premium Finance

This category is designed to recognise projects that have resulted in measurable improvements to the end-customer experience, in any business line.

Whether you have introduced new technology in your processes to put the customer at the heart of what you do, given customers fast, accurate ways to report claims, or invested in customer education to support their decision-making, this is your opportunity to demonstrate your outstanding commitment to the end-customer.

Independent Broker of the Year Sponsored by Aviva

This category seeks to recognise standard setting, independent regional brokers and celebrate outstanding achievement.

Judges will be looking for evidence of entrepreneurial nous, along with a successful track record across the business – with partners, employees, or clients. Most likely spotlighting a specific approach, project or business development initiative, entrants should be able to demonstrate clearly defined success indicators, including business growth.

Personal Lines Broker of the Year Sponsored by BNP Paribas

This category seeks to recognise stand-out UK brokerages setting the standard for others to follow in the personal lines market.

Has your business grown in this tough, competitive market, or perhaps you have innovated to the benefit of end-clients, business partners and/or your GWP and profit generating abilities? Judges will be looking for demonstrable business growth, successful adaptation to challenging conditions and/or boundary pushing innovation in offerings and service.

Schemes Broker of the Year Sponsored by Ecclesiastical

This category seeks to recognise entrepreneurial insurance brokers that have created a new scheme over the past 12 months, or excelled at schemes business in the last 12 months, in either commercial or personal lines.

Judges will be particularly keen to hear about the scheme’s development, offer and execution. What’s new or unique for the market, and how has it given brokers a competitive advantage to seize additional business?

If you’ve developed a start-up accelerator that drives ideas back into the business, come up with an innovative response to an emerging risk, changed your claims process in order to improve customer outcomes, or transformed your talent pipeline to boost diversity – this is the category for you. It could be a small change with a deep effect, or a big change with wide impact – the judges will be looking for initiatives that can demonstrate tangible change through new ideas.

Schemes Insurer of the Year New for 2019

This category seeks to recognise insurers that have created a new scheme over the past 12 months, or excelled at schemes business in the last 12 months, in either commercial or personal lines.

Digital Media Campaign of the Year

This category seeks to recognise a stand out, intelligent digital campaign targeting either B2B or B2C markets and is open to UK insurers, FCA-regulated brokers, insurance institutes, associations, suppliers, agencies and trade bodies.

Whether focused on PR, customer service or boosting interaction with the target audience, judges will be looking for creativity, innovation and original thinking in media, message and execution. Entries should be able to demonstrate impact and a tangible contribution to business success.

Marketing Campaign of the Year – B2B

This category seeks to recognise a stand out marketing campaign specifically target at the business market and is open to all businesses operating in the UK insurance market, including agencies.

Judges will be looking for creativity, innovation and original thinking in media, message and execution. Entries featuring a single medium will be considered. Entrants should be able to demonstrate a tangible contribution to business success.

This category seeks to recognise a stand out marketing campaign specifically targeted at consumers and is open to all businesses operating in the UK insurance market, including agencies.

Business Partner of the Year

This category is designed to recognise outstanding service partners who consistently go the extra mile for their UK-based brokers and insurers to help them structure, deliver, and communicate about their products and services to their clients and partners.

From loss adjusters, technology firms and ratings agencies, to legal firms, communications/ marketing agencies, consultancies, fraud and credit data specialists – judges will be looking for innovative approaches and expertise, tireless service and demonstrable evidence of success.

Claims Partner of the Year

This category is designed to recognise claims, loss adjusting, legal and service partners that have delivered outstanding profitable, flexible and efficient support to UKGI brokers and/or insurers.

Judges will be looking for partnerships that have helped brokers and/or insurers structure, provide, communicate, improve or grow their products and services over the past year. Whether you have a positive story to tell around crisis management, for example, in flooding or other high-impact events, or you’re looking to spotlight a programme of internal change that is boosting your value to your insurer and broker partners, this is the category for you.

Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Award Sponsored by Slater and Gordon

This category recognises and celebrates any business operating in the UK general insurance market that is committed to putting diversity and inclusion at the very heart of what they do.

Judges will be looking at how organisations seek to change both attitudes and behaviours to deliver improved commercial outcomes, and how they are continuing to grow sustainable businesses and promote innovation, both internally and externally.

Excellence in Professional Development

This category is designed to recognise investment in training, talent retention and employee development and is open to any firm/organisation working in the UK insurance market.

Judges will be looking for tangible and measurable benefits for employees, business partners, and/or customers.

Excellence in Technology Sponsored by Brightside Group

This category seeks to recognise initiatives and solutions that improve internal and external operational and administrative processes and is open to all businesses operating in the UK general insurance market.

From the use of artificial intelligence to the implementation of distributed ledgers, judges will be looking for tangible evidence that technology has improved operational efficiencies, claims processes, customer services, and/or business administration.

MGA Initiative of the Year Sponsored by WNS Assistance

This category is designed to recognise the outstanding achievements of the MGA community, a growing force whose firms represent 10% of premium income for UKGI.

Judges will be looking for MGAs that can demonstrate how they have excelled in delivering an outstanding initiative or delivered an excellent professional underwriting service . Entrants will show it is on behalf of insurers looking for access to niche markets, and/or, providing a better service to brokers with a wider range of products and insurer options.

Best Digital Customer Experience Sponsored by ACORD

This award recognises excellence in digital general insurance shopping, a hugely competitive landscape that’s shifting at a rapid pace to meet dynamic consumer demands and preferences.

This category is not open for entries. The winner will be selected by diligent appraisal using measureable criteria in user experience, functionality, and underlying strategy. The shortlist will be provided by ACORD, based on their internal research results.

Broker CEO’s CEO of the Year Sponsored by Applied Systems

This award seeks to recognise a stand-out CEO and will be voted for by the chief executives of the largest brokers in the UK, charged with the task of choosing their ‘first amongst equals’ – the CEO they most admire in UK broking.

The shortlist will be put together by the editorial team at Insurance Times.

Commercial Lines Insurer of the Year

This award recognises the best insurer performance in UK general insurance commercial lines.

This category is not open for entries. A shortlist will be put together by Insurance Times in conjunction with a panel of expert industry analysts, which will then go forward to a UK broker vote to gather broad market feedback on the contenders.

The final decision will be made by the panel, which will also consider company results and financial performance, the perspective of the investor community, progress on strategy, leadership and visibility in the market and the view of service to brokers as collected through the Insurance Times Broker Service Survey.

Cyber Product of the Year - New for 2019

This category is designed to recognise outstanding cyber products and their impact on the market.

The Insurance Times’ editorial team will select a shortlist of insurers/MGAs which are the top rated providers for cyber products according to brokers surveyed in our Broker Service Survey.

Those selected will be invited to present to a panel of judges who will decide on the winner. In particular, Judges will want to know how the cyber product has benefited the insurance community (brokers and customers) in areas such as quality of cover, claims, and overall expertise and support.

Direct Insurer of the Year Sponsored by CoreLogic Symbility

This award recognises the best direct to customer insurer’s performance in UK general insurance

This category is not open for entries. The winner will be selected by an industry-wide expert panel from a shortlist put together by the editorial team at Insurance Times.

Selection will be informed by company results and financial performance; quality of leadership, both at the executive and market-facing levels; quality of strategic thinking and execution; stand-out initiatives; and the view of service provided to brokers, as collected through the Insurance Times Broker Service Survey.

Fleet Product of the Year - New for 2019

This category is designed to recognise outstanding fleet products and their impact on the market.

General Insurer of the Year

This award recognises the best UK insurer that covers both personal and commercial lines in UK general insurance.

High Net Worth Product of the Year - New for 2019

This category is designed to recognise outstanding high net worth products and their impact on the market.

This award seeks to recognise an inspirational, boundary pushing and dedicated individual who has really made a difference.

Lying within the gift of the Insurance Times’ editorial team, the recipient will be an individual who over a period of years, has demonstrated both personal and professional commitment to the industry, enjoying the respect and admiration of their peers.
